Not a trend...

It's one of those things created out of necessity...often, you will hear oldsters talk about "pea-patch cousins," those folks who shared living space with your family of origin.

Necessity is often a real muthah - and this is oft the result. Done by choice is one thing - done out of necessity, another.

Talk to [livejournal.com profile] silverkun about my friends the Hartmans. 6 adults, 9 children in a house less than 2000sq'. Ask [livejournal.com profile] varna about her household of three adults, 4 soon to be 5 children.

And frankly, the one who stays home, get shit on. That's been my experience.

Having been the full time caregiver, I can say with authority that it's nothing special. Really. Trust me on this. You get nothing for being special. Well, maybe a pat on the head and get complimented now and again. That and $5 will get you a latte at Starbucks, long term.

Communication is tough under any circumstances. Stress the circumstances and it's the first thing to go.

Honesty? Welcome to the dance of deception.

Compromise. Well, as long as someone is willing to try it. However, note the response on circumstances. It's the second thing to go.

Switching roles...never. Once you have what you want, few people want anything less or will settle for less. Not for long.
