“The Department of Homeland Security just announced the first grantees of their Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) program. CVE is an institutionalized Islamophobic policy and program that targets Muslim communities punitively and further presents us through the national security paradigm. This program has been seen as an extension of COINTELPRO.
Building up the infrastructure for instituionalized Islamophobia.
Please see below for a few of the awardees.
Under Managing Interventions
- Muslim Public Affairs Council Foundation - $393,800 (Nationwide)
Under Challenging the Narrative
- Unity Productions Foundation - $396,585 (Nationwide)
- Masjid Muhammad, Inc. - $450,000 (Nationwide)
- The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - $866,687 (Nationwide)
- Muslim American Leadership Alliance - $40,000 (Nationwide)
Building Capacity
Counter Extremism Project - $298,760 (New York)
Claremont School of Theology - $800,000 (Los Angeles)
Islamophobia pays and these groups will be implementing these programs under the Trump Administration.
