Why don't I share a little from a couple in the making?

From [livejournal.com profile] ginmar:

The other thing I was struck by was how eager people were to avoid the gun metaphor. [livejournal.com profile] greatsword hit it right on the head. I have a gun. Just because I have one and don't use it doesn't make me a great person. I can exploit it at any time. I have power over anyone who does not have a gun. That might cause them to act with me in a different way than they do with people who don't have guns. People who don't examine this concept closely might be lured into believing that that different treatment and demeanor are the result of their virtues, personality, or attractiveness. Getting treated like this over time might become expected even though only power explains it. I imagine getting rid of that concept must be unpleasant. Hell, even noticing that invisible power must be unpleasant. Not my problem. My issue is first pointing out that that power differential exists, and then eliminating the gap.

From [livejournal.com profile] jamesla:

The good people are always the last to be considered around here while the true useless who believe this war to be their own personal playstation game get ahead with their John Wayne agendas and ideas. They treat others as less than themselves and sometimes less than human. They label everything. Rebels, terrorists, hajis, etc. These are the people that get ahead. And just hearing them talk makes me simmer like a pot of stew on low heat.

There are a number of others on my list - they don't post as often.

No, I get annoyed and angry in a total vacuum. Riiiiiight.
