I've been told this is really something special - from someone who grew up in Bern, of course.

I'm just a little homesick for the hot onion pie slices I used to live on this time of year - you could get one for just a couple of francs and it was lunch.

That looks incredible. I'm a big fan of a good onion. If you keep clicking on the pictures you'll come to one of a glass of beer and a small onion tart. I've got a recipe for an onion pie, wonder if it would taste anything like that?

Hmm. I've got eggs, pastry fixings and two sweet onions at home, I'd just need some cream. Hmmm.

I've got a box full of onion straws from the Lucille's run last week - I think I can likely toss some of them into a pie crust and put an egg batter over them, and bake and come up with something relatively tasty. Will let you know.

Evaporated milk stands in nicely for cream in baked goods - I'd go for it!
