Busy day -

We're still soaked here. Saturation was reached a week ago. And still the rain comes. The roads are developing huge holes in them as the water gets underneath the pavement and loosens everything that used to hold it together. Chuckholes as big as your wheel - and very little room to manouver around them.

The dog cries to get back in five minutes after I put her out in the morning. She normally spends all of her time outside - now, she won't go unless bribed. And not very long even with treats and cosseting.

Finally laid eyes on the boss this morning - and it was good. He showed me where he had been - and yes, it's possible not to know it had happened - he was near the eastern border Thailand shares with Cambodia. Nothing happened there.

Today, I am so incredibly fortunate. Yeah, yeah - I know I've had a really long dry spell before this. But it's so incredibly sweet right now - but I'm still burning the "thank you" incense.

The house looks like a bachelor has lived here for a week - and the washing machine is down for repairs. Hopefully, tomorrow will be more productive - but tonight, it's all good.

And I'm going to fall down.

Pictures were taken - I got to get Jim to upload them so I can show you.

Glad to seeyou got home safe and mostly dry. *g*

My garage door has this weird thing where it only opens part way when it's raining (I have to open it manually all the way).... *shrug* It's been looked at to be fixed.

Take care, you.

Oh, do I remember the periodic rains that supersaturate the hillsides and cause things like houses to go for a leetle ride. I grew up in the Bay Area.

I'm glad you're on flat ground. I'm glad you are safe and dry. I hope that you remain that way.

Got some really good news today; [livejournal.com profile] jamesla is heading stateside soon, and will be spending a bit of time nearby. We'll collect him and bring him to the Hill for dinner while he's more or less in our neck of the woods; I asked him what he wanted most, and that turns out to be lasagne.

My mom sent me a fabulous Italian cookbook as a holiday gift, which has an excellent lasagne recipe. I think we need to practice once or twice, since it starts with homemade pasta and I've never made pasta.

Then again, there isn't much we can't cook, especially when we work together. :-)

Well, the rain is apparently horrendous there, my parents are between it, near Palm Springs, but are sort of stuck there, as they are driving a truck with a 5th wheel trailer, and don't want to get caught on some of the roads...

We're getting off and on bits of blue for the past couple of days, including now, with breaks in the clouds. But of the past three weeks of rain, the two heaviest, aside from this morning, were the days we moved.
