Another fun thing spread through the internet - Geocaching. I found it through the Where's George? website - people leave marked bills in the caches, it seems.

Now, I love Book Crossing, but this is nifty in itself.

Have GPS? Have fun - inventive, and plays nicely into what I truly believe about people. They're pretty nifty critters.

(And I have always loved setting up treasure hunts....)

That's something [livejournal.com profile] lord_keeper and I would love to do some day. Seems like good exercise, too, since neither one of us is good about going for a walk without a reason, so it would get us out of the house and moving.

I've gotten several Where's George bills. I actually signed up at the site and then promptly forgot to keep track of it. I should check it out and see where my little dollar bill has been.

I guess you're going to get me moving...

I have two GPS units, both handheld, and I need the exercise, so I guess that Geocaching is next. I guess I'll have to look for geocaches in the Hemet-Anza area.

BTW...

That is so awesome! There's apparently a park near me that I didn't even know about and theres a cache thing there. I'll have to take my little one there sometime in the next couple days and see if I can find it :) Thanks for introducing me to this!

Geocaching is like a lot of things: you start fascinated, you become conversant, and then you get bored, picky, or obsessed.

293 finds in five states, but only one in the last month.

Wheresgeorge.com is almost as bad - so is Bookcrossing.

Kind of like winning the lottery - but there you go.

Hey, you want - to have to participate as well.

Geocaching rocks. I'm only a casual cacher, but I've loved every hunt I've made. Even the ones that came up empty. Maybe, especially those. Take a look at letterboxing too.

I wish I had a GPS. I tried doing Geocaching without one for a few months last year, but gave it up when I just wasn't getting any where. (Shrugs)

You know, when I get one (and likely I will) - I'll give you a call and we can go give it a whirl. What do you say?

I'm totally thinking of getting a GPS device... just for this. Or at least I was... now I'm thinking, what else can I use the bloody thing for? Without another reason for it, it's just another gadget I spend too much money on for no real reason.

But the Geocaching seems interesting.
