I can remember Pope John Paul I. I remember the fellow before him, too.

But I am going to miss this fellow, I really think I will.

*sighs* If I need to weigh in on the pro-life side for this, let it be remembered. If you truly believe in an afterlife, there are things far worse that dying in this world.

I wish we could come to terms on providing care as it is wanted - not always as a fallback to 'just in case.' Wish.

As you might imagine, I'm not fond of prolonging life artificially - just for the sake of prolonging life. You've got to be able to live to be alive.

There will be legal forms copied and distributed in the next week or so, to the affected parties. Don't worry about that - I have a couple from Mom that spell out her wishes very clearly.

I'm not to take any heroic actions on her part. I'm not to use any kind of artificial life support in any way, under any conditions.

For the record, I'm cool with that. My directive will likely be much the same.

A death from sepsis is not an easy one. Even though they can be swift, they aren't always.

I'll miss him. But I am very ready to let him go.

He'll be okay. I'm sure of it.

For some reason, even though I'm no longer Catholic, I fear for The Church now. I have vague memories from my childhood, which may or may not be accurate as such, of there being a tense political time with the conclave that elected Pope John Paul II that overshadowed his predicessor's demise.

I think he is ready to "go home". He is a great man
and a very good man. I have not always agreed with him,
but I can not deny his greatness. I hope and pray he finds
the eternity he is seeking. May he have peace and joy,
and a job to do.

It's sad, but he will be in a better place. He has led a good life and has done a lot of good.

I was my daughters age when he became Pope and now the same thing is happening. It was a big deal to my Grandma.
