*sigh* Think we can do this -
Jul. 8th, 2005 02:44 pmWant to see what the kitten situation is in my neighborhood? Go check this rescue's website.
But they're the only ones able to do anything today. Believe it or not, she's just up the street from me - and she, like me, has discovered the resources multiply exponentially within six blocks - just go west.
I've also discovered a new pet store, just down the street from work, to get my cat litter. Yes, I use some artsy-fartsy cat litter - it's basically wheat chaff. But I can fill the litter pans once a week, don't scoop and you don't smell cat. Not at all. It's also VERY popular and sells out. I now have three sources - counting the new place today.
They're also right next door to the classic new-age crystal-crazy supply house - but they appear friendly, the place smells good and has a nice feel to it. I also know I won't be called a dirty hippie scumbag, and the relief is palatable. Because? It's a store FULL of dirty hippie scumbags. (Good thing I like dirty hippie scumbags.)
How can you tell you're in the South Bay? Pet store is holding a Luau from July 22nd through the 28th. These hippies have cash, and lots of it. Don't forget that.
But check out the 'show your kitty' page from the rescue group. We foster; they place. Sounds like something I can do.
However. If ANYONE can foster one or more of these kittens, speak up. I can provide cat food. And I'll transport kittens to be showed on the weekends. I will have to make arrangements for Comic-Con weekend, but until this is resolved, looks like I have something to do on the weekends. It's that, or send them to the shelter - which is overloaded right now.
Anyone want to foster a kitten?

Date: 2005-07-09 02:25 am (UTC)Want me to see if my best friend wants more cats? She has a dozen now, and fourteen dogs (eight of whom are puppies, five of whom she's working to place), on a 60-acre farm. There's a cat door installed into the back door, good cat food, clean litter, fresh water at all times, cat-friendly doggies, and LOTS of love. (She's a responsible cat owner; all her cats are altered. She won't have any more litters of pups for another three years, and she *loves* kitties.)
However, she is north of me and the kitties would have to come up here by air, since driving them up from California would not delight them at all. (I could receive them at the airport, have them overnight with us if needed (depending on when they arrived), and transport them to Deb's house. I would foster them all myself if I were closer, but having you come to collect them for weekend showings is not practical. I would adopt them all but I don't have the farm she does. Don't think I'm not tempted.

Date: 2005-07-09 06:02 am (UTC)It's no. Pat says they don't have the room for them. If they already had the house built, he says, it would be different.
They're in a cramped little old farmhouse that's literally falling apart; the value of their place is in the land. They've got a new manufactured home on order, and will put that in and then let the fire department hold a training exercise with the old house.
But right now they're in the old house, and don't have the room to properly care for the kitties.
