DCFS is ready to reopen our file - they now have everything they need.

I should go back and see how long this process *really* has taken - nearly two years, from the first orientation, I think.

The problem now is how to handle them - because most likely, we will have our placements outside their system before they can offer anything to us.

It'll have to wait until I get home - there's no way I'm going to try and do this over phones while both of us are at work.

But holy merde. I don't want to think how expensive this has been yet. For essentially - nothing.

Well, assuming it's not going to cost you a lot more money or waste a lot of time, I'd say continue to play along with them at least until you've got a confirmed placement through the other channels. No point in burning bridges you don't have to until you're sure you've made it all the way to your destination..

Then, assuming everything works out, you can tell them "Sorry, we gave up waiting for you and already did it through somebody else. Maybe you should try not to be such a pain to work with in future."

I knew that there was a certain amount of paperwork and waiting involved, but I have to admit I never realized quite how bad this whole process was until I read some of your chronicles.. it's sorta amazing to me now that anybody ever does it at all.
