Because I'm up, and it's easy -
May. 7th, 2006 08:17 amA very late Friday Five.
1) Do you like your birth-name? Why?
It's a love-hate relationship. I'm the third of four children, who all have the same initials for both first and middle names. I'm also the only one NOT named after anyone. (Sis got the Elizabeth for her middle name, and I've dubbed everyone called Elizabeth "Pookie" in revenge. When my niece was born, and given the Elizabeth for her middle name, there were 15 Elizabeths in the family tree on both sides she was being named for. My Elaine? *crickets chirping* I maintain I was named after the hurricane that went through Dade County in 1960. It makes as much sense as anything else.
2) If you could change your name to anything else, what would it be?
Fred.
Nah. If you know my history about me and my name, you know that I take a great deal of pride in what I have (and what I have is long and a living memorial to two men at the very least) and I wouldn't change a thing.
3) What names would you consider giving your children?
I always loved Amber Rose for a girl, however, I'm not getting a good feeling holding that one for the coming adoption.
Current front-runners are Sora Rose Elaine for the girl, and Alexander-Paul de Silva for the boy.
4) If you had a band, what would you name it, and why?
If I ever had a band, you should all fear.
5) Is there a name that you completely hate? Why?
Names out of cultural context - say, Robina for a girl here. That's Jim's grandmother's name. Dollena is another one that I think would not do well in Los Angeles, and that's an aunt's name. (She uses her middle name for professional purposes.)
Wolfgang is a nifty name. Here, it might not do so well. Cliff wanted that, or Thor. No kidding.
Hate's a pretty strong word. "Not a really good idea" might come closer to it.
