American Idol? Don't watch it. When I'm charitable towards it, I refer to the show as "They Shoot Horses, Don't They 2006?"

And they said they had more votes than the last Presidential election, huh?

Well, I voted in the election. I sure as hell didn't vote for any "idol."

What the heck do you think they're counting, anyway?

*snark*

I hate American Idol.

How do you think they came up with the basis for that movie "American Dreamz"?

Bleh I'm sure if they let us vote for the next President via text messaging or by phone the numbers might go up. Not to sure why they bothered comparing.

My understanding (having only stumbling over it if I turn to that channel for House MD a bit too early) is that you can vote multiple times.

So, in theory, you could register, say, 46 votes for your favorite.

Which mades their claim about more votes than for the last presidential election rather suspect (more votes, or more individual people voting?).

Actually, given the last presidential election, perhaps not...

I had an old boss from Chicago who wore a button with that saying every election day.

Useless comparison.

The requirements to vote on AI just were having access to a phone and you could call more than once. No age, residency restrictions or registration required.

AI might be silly, but it's at least fairly family friendly.

I'm an Idol fan for this season only. (My boyfriend actually got me into it.)

Anyway, you can vote more than once for idol and there is a young skew to the audience that actually would do that. I hate when the comparison is made because it doesn't make sense!

Yes, because so many junior high schoolers voted in the last election.

Given the results, I'm not so sure they didn't.

Probably never will.
