Ghad, it's amazing how much more productive I can be with enough sleep. Not all the sleep I can get, just more than five hours. Two more than that, and I can take a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson. Okay, that's stretching it a bit.

But, dayim.

Good thing, life is busy and not looking to let up anytime soon.

Spice's ashes are ready for pickup - am I dragging my feet when I keep telling Jim not to rush over there just to get them? I mean - what the heck are we going to DO with them once they're home? We didn't purchase the pretty cedar urn with the photo plate, after all.

*shuffles* Yeah, this is the first time I've had a pet cremated. Don't look at me like that.

I don't want to tempt fate and put that container on a shelf somewhere it could get knocked over. You understand.

Jim's suggest scattering the ashes at Cliff's grave - which has some merit, she was his last dog...or taking her to pier and letting fly. Neither of these is getting a good gut reaction, so if you have any suggestions, the mike is open.

I know I'm forgetting something. What - well, who knows. All I know is that I'm amazed at the response being - well - mean is getting. Y'all are weird, I've said that. Is it something of a life lesson to find out most of my worst moments where when I was trying to be kind - and my best are when I'm being harsh? Jeeeeeeez.

Running away now....

all I did was...

put the ashes from my old cat on a shelf in my office. You wouldn't know she's there unless you walk up to the shelf and look at the little brass nameplace on the box.

I didn't keep Roxie's ashes. I might print out one or more of my favorite pictures of her and frame them. I probably would have buried them in my garden.

The ashes I mean, if I had kept them. Not the pictures. I'm not all together today. :-/

I'm thinking of a very nice box, collect a few other mementos of her and put the box of ashes in it, tie it up with beautiful ribbons and put it in the closet. How original.

What outdoor place did Spice like best when she was alive? Scatter the ashes there, if you can.

Do you have a picture of Cliff and Spice together? If so, you can put it in a frame, and have that in front of the box.

Not any I would put in a public place, if one exists. Too sad, to be blunt. (But not a bad idea, mind....)

Would you like a small ceramic urn? I can throw one tomorrow. Let me know size, color, if you want a specific design or the dog's name. No problem.

However, tomorrow's my last day to submit greenware for firing until August, so it'd be ASAP on letting me know.

You know, if it would be a learning experience for you - let fly. (I'm back from picking her up.)

It's a very small box, less than 9" tall, about 3" on the other sides. The rest, I'll leave to you - do what feels right.

Um, OK, now that I have actually READ the post....

Blue Bayou (Our Greyhound) we had cremated and he lives in a wooden urn on our mantle with a nameplate. Buckwheat, had he died where I could have recovered his body, would have been cremated and placed in a cat shaped statue. As it is, I have a Margaret Pena Winged Cat statue I painted black to look like Buckers, and he is peering down on us from atop the TV.
