Heard about Pluto. Yeah, sure. Whatever. I predict a reversal in less than 10 years. Somebody is going to change their mind, just watch for it. I assure you, Pluto does not friggin' care what we call it. If you can live on it, it's home for someone. Who cares what gets called a planet and what doesn't? Honestly.

In the same vein? David Plotz is blogging the Bible at Slate.

*thinks* I have at least four copies of the Bible at home, various translations (including a Catholic version) and 12 versions on CD for comparison's sake.

This, ought to be good.

Astrologers the world around are gonna have a hissy fit.

Same people who make up predictions about Pluto will also have to be reminded that Pluto wasn't actually discovered until the 20th century, so how in heck did the ancients divine any horoscopes? :P

Boo hiss. We're doing the wild animal park on Saturday and it would be great to see the pictures you'd take.

See what you can find in a Saturday sometime soon, pretty please?

Some astrologers already use large asteroids and moons and such things, so probably not too much of a hissy fit. And the best explanation for astrology I've heard (i.e. that wasn't pure mumbo-jumbo) was that it works like sifting bits of graphite over a sheet of paper to seek out imprinted lines--it's not the graphite that's important, but the lines. Or to put it another way, it's just a tool to get at what's already going on in people's psyches--and changing the planets and whatnot thererfore doesn't really affect it...

Good. I'm sure astrologers will find a good explanation anyway.

Like, "This is astrology, not astronomy." :)

I am deeply wounded! All the solar-system mobiles I made in grade school are WRONG! Kiddo's glow-in-the-dark planets on his ceiling have to be reordered! It's a catastrophe!

It's horky! I think they're downgrading it to "dwarf planet" - now, would someone please explain THAT one to me?

Obviously it's a planet full of dwarves. Hobbits and elves need not apply.

Basically, this is the astromoner's version of "Harry Potter Is In Love With Ginny/No He Isn't He's In Love With Hermione."
