A couple of shots from Saturday - I think I have the one we're going to use, but there's no fun in that.

Here's to pictures that don't suck!

Which one do you like more?

-or-

I really wanted to stay away from a formal portrait - here, look at this poor desperate couple! Give 'em a kid! - so I went for the less than stellar situation. I think they're pretty good shots, all told.

I liek the first one better because you're looking at the camera and grinning. Classic snapshot!

The second is great because of the way you're interacting witht eh Lorikeet.

Still. I vote pic #1!

They're both good in their own ways. If you'd like more emphasis on the bird, I'd go with the second.

Top one definitely...direct eye contact and nice smiles. :)

I really like the second one. :-) The light reflecting off your glasses in the first one is a bit distracting, as is the bird-biur. The second one makes you /wonder/. :-D

I like the first one--more birds, and the overall pic looks warmer.

Definitely. You're both smiling at the camera and you have the added bonus of the flying bird in the picture.

You're both looking at the camera, and you seem more relaxed than in the second picture, for some reason.

I'm going with Picture 1 as well - you're smiling to the camera, you're both holding birds, and you're obviously relaxed and having fun.

Here's what else picture 1 says - you're not afraid to try things/expose yourselves to interesting situations, and you're not homebodies. The kid behind your shoulder, [livejournal.com profile] kyburg, in the backpack carrier shows that you weren't somewhere "dangerous," per se.

The second picture, the unkind would say Jim looks drunk and is that a beer he's holding? (No, he's holding a cup of birdseed or the like for the 'keets. I know that.) And your expression is "Duh... wuzzat?"

Picture 1 is the better impression to put into a filefolder.

I like them both for different reasons. The first has both of you posing well, although it has the bird blur. The second has an undersaturated look to it, but the expression on your face is great.

I like the first shot (smiling, happy) a lot more.

There's no way the 2nd shot should be used.

# 1

Definitely the first one. The second is better as a portrait, but the first is much better as a publicity shot. Send in the first, and get the second framed to hang on your wall.

I know I'm a bit late in the game, and basically saying the same thing as everybody else, but I just wanted to throw in my vote for the first one as well.

The second is a nice "candid" shot and would be great, say, in a magazine article, but for the purposes of introducing yourself to someone, the first one presents you as much more personable and engaging people (the second sorta conveys an impression that you're more interested in the bird than in any people who might be in front of you, which has a bit of an antisocial vibe, IMHO)

And I wouldn't be worried about the bird blur. In my opinion that just makes it more clear that it wasn't some staged shot where you were worried about getting everything "just right" (that's exactly the sort of thing I'd expect to see in an ordinary photo from a family outing).
