So, I've been sitting here thinking again. Very dangerous.

Should I put out the call for addresses for Christmas cards yet? Maybe. I really should make getting the labels done early a priority.

Hmm. I also have a turkey in the freezer that needs to either get cooked and eaten or given away, because it's not big enough for the real thing and is nearly a year old in the bargain. Hmm.

I should think about a yard sale in September, a Saturday like the 16th or the 23rd. Hmm. That would allow me a chance to clean out the cupboards - and anything I don't need, I can give away to yard sale helpers. That might kill two birds, yadda ya.

My favorite apple orchard opens for the season today. I usually go out there early in October, but I could schedule it in earlier. Hmm.

[livejournal.com profile] nytshaed, are we doing Haunt this year?

Ah. I love this time of year. So much more fun things to think about doing -

Orcharding? Hmm? Wuzzat? Guess who's never been to an apple orchard... mainly because I doubt he would have enjoyed them before this year... hee!

I got a turkey taking up freezer space too. Thanks for reminding me. Thanks also for Oak Glen, time to get some apples for canning, and dehydrating. (my mom has canners, jars, and three dehydrators) Yes, so many things to do before the end of the year.

The only thing with littles you have to watch for is that I have to keep telling them - "if it's on the ground, it belongs to the ground, not you."

NARSTY surprises if they pick up the ones that have been on the ground, lemme tellya.

I try to get up to Idyllwild at this time of year, too. Don't ask me why - it's tradition.

I could give him a little apple-poking stick. "If it's on the ground, poke it with this. If there's nothing under it, leave it alone. If there is something under it, back away and leave it alone!"

Tomorrow and the rest of the weekend is Idyllwild's annual garage sale weekend, all Labor Day Weekend. Garage sale heaven.

The only problem with that? Kids are too damn linear. They pick everything up - regardless. I had to be very clear. You don't touch what don't belong to you, and if it's on the ground, it belongs to the ground. Period!

It's fun to see what the 'rich people on the hill' have to offer. I've bought music, tools, camping gear, etc. Speaking of camping, we ought to organize a weekend camping trip up there before it gets too cold or wet.

Maybe next fall will be better for boys and apples.

*laughs* I was working with a group age 3 through 18 - it just comes with the territory. This year would be great - in Daddy's arms most of the time. Better view in the bargain - imagine - apples still on the tree and everything!

Boy, I've thought about that more than once already - with Jim working Sundays, it just doesn't come together well.
