The Oregon Humane Society recovered a 20.2-pound stray cat that was found halfway stuck in a doggie door Wednesday in Gresham, Ore.

The Humane Society said the cat was trying to steal food from a home that had put out food for its own cats.

I am so easily amused.

It's not just the total weight, Punkin is nearly 25 pounds and he's not nearly that fat, but he's a big cat. Latte is 15 pounds and almost looks slim. (That's Punkin in the icon.) This cat obviously has a smaller frame or he wouldn't look that obese at 20 pounds.

And if he was missing for 6 months he obviously had found other sources of kibble. Maybe he didn't like the catfood at home.

That is definitely a hugely fat cat! I have a Maine coon that I rescued. He's living a fat life now, but was never that big and that cat doesn't look like there's any Maine coon in his breeding.

My daughter wants to get a Ragdoll kitten but I dunno. They grow as big as Maine coons - and sometimes bigger. I'm all for rescuing cats and dogs. All of ours have come to us by direct rescue or from a shelter but I'd take one look at that one and walk on by. My first reaction would be
1.) I can't afford to feed it, and
2.) I have no idea how to treat a feline heart attack.

I'm having trouble believing he's only 20 pounds. Our old Maine coon weighed in at a nice sturdy 33 pounds at his top fighting weight, and he didn't look nearly as round at the belly and head as that. He didn't occlude as much of a person's frame as that one does. He didn't look strange at all.
He just looked...big.
Very big.
That's what all the dogs who met him thought, too.
We always kept him inside, better for him, but also a mercy for the innocent creatures he might encounter out there.
I mean, like buses, you know, stuff like that.
