But Rei got out this morning. Was gone just long enough for me to throw clothes on, walk the neighborhood and then drive over to the industrial lot that abuts our backyard.

I actually thought I'd found her over there - but it has to be a sibling or a descendant, with a wee black cat for a friend. Then Jim called and let me know she had appeared at the door, wanting her breakfast. She's sunning herself in a window right now.

Deep breath.

Jim should have had cats growing up, all of his life. Ours adore him - and he's had the best experience with them. (I have kitty dances while I'm at the computer. He sits down and has CAT IN LAP NOW every time.)

Reinstalled my Sims2 game last night - and removed about 6 GB of poo from the hard drive. Wouldn't you know - it runs fantastically well, stable and so forth.

But I am really looking forward to Seasons for the Mac when it comes out - I suspect a lot of my stability issues are going to go away, as that version will be updating OS changes I think Mac has been making, going towards Leopard. Hell, all the crashes say "Windows Server" all over them - I'll just go with it and make sure I have half the drive available as virtual server swimming room. *rolls eyes*

I'll be able to post a "reinstall for Mac" over at MTS2. Hysterical.

I am a cat magnet as well it seems. That does not make me happy.

Two questions:
  1. How did you uninstall and reinstall The Sims 2? I've been trying to do likewise so I can start from scratch after fumbling with the game.
  2. What's "Seasons?" I'm a Mac user, too!

Directly from Aspyr -

Donna,

Thank you for contacting us. I would recommend moving your back up Sims data some place safe.

I used Dropstuff to move everything onto CD - you need to archive everything under /user/documents/EAGames/Sims2 to backup your game.

I also moved the folder to my desktop just to be safe. Then did what they asked.

Sims installer:
1.Drag the folder labeled The Sims 2 to the trash, drag the folder labled EA Games from the Home/Documents folder to the trash
2. Open the Home/Library/Preferences folder and remove all files related to The Sims 2, they will all start with com.aspyr. (file name)
3. Empty the trash
4 Insert The Sims 2 DVD
5. Open the Sims 2 DVD and drag The Sims 2 folder to your Macintosh HD
6. This will take some time to copy over
7. When the files have finished copying open the HD and the Sims 2 folder and launch The Sims 2 Application
8. close down the game
9. Insert the next expansion DVD University
10. Run the Expansion installer
11. launch the game
12. close the game
13. Insert the next expansion DVD Nightlife
14. Run the Expansion installer
15. launch the game
16. close the game
17. Insert the next expansion DVD Open for Business
18. Run the Expansion installer
19. launch the game
20. close the game
21. Insert the Pets DVD
22. Run the Pets installer
23. Launch the game
24. shut down the game and locate your EA Games/The Sims 2 folder
24. Replace The Sims 2 folder with your back up folder

Everything should be up and running at this point.

Have a nice day,
Aspyr Tech Support

Seasons is the new expansion pack that is currently only available for the PC version (which I have on my laptop. Long story.) - I am waiting for the Mac version like you wouldn't believe. It is absolutely breathtaking. think the first time you saw Sims2 after playing the original breathtaking.
