Last night's dreams were full of people showing up, announcing dire happenings and leaving. I think I was running a hotel or something. Place was gorgeous, at least. Food was good.

Woke up exhausted, though.

But something that had been rattling around in my head as a thought finally has enough shape to share. And I am equally certain someone has used this as a catchphrase before me -

"I need that brand of drama like I need a fork in the eye."

So.

If I turn to you and say "too many forks and not enough spoons," you'll you know what I mean. And no, it doesn't mean I need a knife. Or even a really beeeeg one.

I'm very familiar with the 'spoons' analogy. It was how I measured what I could accomplish during my early recovery phases of lupus. Many days I just ran out of 'spoons'. Nowadays I have way too many forks and not enough spoons.

That resonates with me partly as a Behcet's patient, but partly also as a parent. Having a kid around will force you to make some of those same decisions, but for a happy reason instead of for a sucky one.

Now, yes, you're right, I agree, you really do need a really beeeg knife to put a stop to the emo drama. Oh yes, absolutely. Everybody feels that way sometimes.
(Hides kyburg's kitchen knives, hastily)
