Well, August wasn't quite finished with us.
Friday, Jim blew a tire driving home. I blame the temperature - the whole sidewall is GONE. The car is in the shop, getting a new one and Jim has mah car. With all of the CD wallets of DOOM we own.
AMEX decided to submit the payment I made on Friday twice. This is AMEX. This is the entire payment at once. TWICE. UH. No. YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.
We'll have money again tomorrow. Everyone very abashed on both ends of the transaction (I love Bank of the West, BTW. They actually have shame. It's amazing.) -
My watch died. On Friday. I am watchless. I fix this tomorrow.
..
Culture at large? PINK DOES NOT MAKE CANCER BETTER. It doesn't make it cute, it does nothing to motivate me towards making it Go Away and frankly, the products given the "PINK" treatment to raise funds just make me go ERR? A pink Dyson vacuum cleaner. NO.
(BTW, men can get breast cancer too. Yes, men have breasts too. I can just see it. I GOT PINK CANCER! Dumbasses.)
..
Folks on my FL - is it safe to bash weddings now? I've got the one post perculating in the back of my mind that I'd like to get down, but I can't be kind doing it. There are plenty of folks on my friends list who also know where I sleep - and if you're done now? I can start talking about it.
Weddings are like that in my experience. You don't get away without pissing off someone. I, at least try to do it evenly.
..
Sunday, I spent a good part of the day transferring my own wedding video to DVD. I think I got married again five or six times for the two discs I got burnt. (One for viewing, one for archiving with the VHS tape.) I also tried to convert a couple of other tapes - and got mixed results on playback. Might have something to do with the temperature in the house at the time we tried playback (above 90 degrees) - will try it again when it cools down some.
We're eating a lot of sandwiches and gazpacho the next couple of weeks.
Sunday was also the day I got most of the stuff I'd put aside for framing - done and up on the walls. The Juniper Lee print I bought at the last ComiCon? Done. The chocolate ad prints from France? Done. The freebie anime posters? In the trash.
Precious little piece
haikujaguar did? At the framers for the special treatment. Already have the wall space picked out.

Anything that requires heat is FIRED. Wait.

I'm checking with folks to make sure I won't piss THEM off when I let fly -
(Feel better soon. Labyrinthitis is no fun whatsoever.)

Date: 2007-09-04 09:22 pm (UTC)You realize, of course, that watches are so "our generation". Kids these days just use their cellphones. Of course, at least for a few more days, you could have called 853-1212 :-)

Date: 2007-09-05 07:25 am (UTC)A few months ago, they just up and refused to cash a check for one of my employees.
Nothing wrong with the account, nothing wrong with his attitude, they just didn't feel like cashing the check. When I heard about this, I was totally WTF?
Of course, he closed his account(s) that day.
We found out later they didn't like where he worked.

Date: 2007-09-05 04:38 pm (UTC)That seriously sounds like a local branch issue, though.
The ones near me? They thank me every time I talk to them - and even if it's merely a goof on my part, their part - whatever? They just fix it, don't charge me for it and send me on my way.
The Wells branches work entirely behind bulletproof glass (Redondo Beach? HUH?), and have as much warmth as an ice cube tray. I've had a VISA card with them for ages - yeesh - since I graduated college in 1984. They've made a mint off me.
