Hey, so guess what? Those aren't red flowers. :) Most people hardly notice the real flowers. The red bits are really modified leaves that mimic a petal, but anatomically, they are leaves. The true flowers are teensy little things grouped in the center of the leaf clusters. Take a closer look!

I would *love* to know how to keep the silly things alive - they look SO pretty in the store, but by February...pretty scary.

The secret is: don't try to save them. They're grown under highly artificial conditions that aren't like our natural weather. I've seen them planted out, and they're nothing like when they're first bought as a seasonal decoration.
