You know, when people talk about Britney Spears these days - and after searching my memory banks for things Truly 80's for that party a few weeks ago (that I want to do again, even bigger, complete with backyard and BBQ this summer) -
I'm reminded of Gelsey Kirkland.
She's written three books, all told - but the one that twigged my memory was the first one - Dancing On My Grave, and I guess you won't wonder why very long.
I always thought she was so pretty, too. Some of that was plastic surgery, no doubt - but I always thought she was beautiful.
I'm glad to find out the story ends well - and she's still teaching what she learned the hard way.
Maybe someone will sneak a copy of her book to ol' BritBrit - now that it's gotten quiet.
Yay 80's -

I remember seeing her on 60 Minutes, talking about the procedures she underwent just to more closely match Balanchine's platonic ideal of a dancer.... *sigh*
