After Jim's eye didn't improve - and actually began to look worse on Wednesday - I called our eye doctor and got him in after work on Thursday.

He didn't have conjunctivitis - he'd never been contagious - what he had was an inflammation of the sclearal and epithilium (he's got the diagnosis on a piece of paper with him right now, or I'd be able to provide it. Episclearal - some itsis or other) more closely related to arthritis than anything else. Etiology - unknown. Back to steroid drops - and he's much improved.

Since they were right around the corner, I stopped in after I got off work. And found they had an opening to see me for my yearly on Friday.

So I shorted Friday and went over and dropped another $500. OH - that's after Thursday, when we decided that getting the cars serviced would be a good idea - oil changes at about $20 a pop.

Well, they were also due for transmission services - and I heard $1.99 over the regular price for the materials specific to Nissan cars - and Jim just heard $1.99 more.

Uh, $199.00 more. Our own dumb fault - but the cars are serviced.

That's right. Both cars. $500.00, with the extras we tossed on.

So for a week where we really didn't have anything to spare, we tossed a grand out of the window between Thursday and Friday - suffice it to say, I'm glad there's a tax return.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl arrived yesterday - is anyone else playing these? We have wifi - and what you should have known is if we met writing Ranma 1/2 fanfic, we'd play Pokemon like mad ferrets. What, you didn't know? Well, now you do. Someday, they'll call it "old school anime" - I'll thwap anyone with pleasure who calls it that. *grumbles* Whippersnappers and all that.

My founder of my Apocalypse Challege died last night. I'm both pleased - and a bit sad. Her kids are not nearly as interesting, to be honest. I am still loving Seasons to itty bits. Can't wait for the Mac version to come out -

Mom canceled her birthday trip out on Saturday, so I've had nearly nothing of import that wanted doing. (Hey, I could always go clean a bathroom or sort junk - I have a house. There's always something that needs to be done.)

I don't mind the getting older - some parts of it, I'm really enjoying.

I don't like buying multi-lensed glasses. They're expensive and I hate having to do it. Bifocals, trifocals - what have you. That $500 is for one pair, period. No sunglasses. And with my current history, only good for a year. So I popped for the Vera Wang frames. Fuckitall. Doctor says my distance vision is good enough to laser out to normal - and get rid of one set of lenses. I just remind him I have the sister who went that route, developed an allergic reaction on the inside of the eye and lost the eye that way. UH, NO.

I have a bunch of things to talk about regarding the recent Supreme Court decision on partial-birth abortion - but not today. In short, you didn't find out anything new on what "conservatives" actually think about women (what, this surprised you how?) - what I'm waiting to see is just how they plan to enforce that ban. Remember, I was working with a lot of folks who dealt with these issues back in 1995, when this whole thing first reared its ugly head. And I couldn't find anyone, pro-choice, who would have done it anyway. So - how do you plan to enforce this thing, anyhow?

But not today. [livejournal.com profile] caitlin called - we're going to eat food in Little Tokyo. That suits me just fine.

Maybe I can find some cookies.

Yup. Home with Mini in tow, and she's booting like a champ. However, whatever got corrupted on the hard drive could happen again, so I'll be looking for an outboard drive to begin doing complete backups on a regular basis - and keep the Applecare contract current.

I *heart* my Apple Store. Only thing they were missing were cookies.

This mod cracks me up.

Someone's working out the bugs on the TARDIS for Sims2.

It replaces both your car and your wardrobe. Annnd...a couple other things.

No. Not a chance in hell. No way.

You're getting your music career track back in the next Sims2 Expansion Pack.

I think we can also safely say that this is also the Animal Crossing:WW crossover pack. *winks* Oh very yes.

From the [livejournal.com profile] tvinjapan feed - an add for the Sims on the Wii:

http://tvinjapan.com/blog/2006/11/26/japanese-trailer-of-the-sims-on-the-wii/

It's short, it's cute and even if the characters are SD - the animation is painfully familiar.

Yeah, I'd like to talk more about my Sims, but this isn't the place for it.

You want to see me get all silly? I'm building a new journal for it over at [livejournal.com profile] simsdesoleil - come over and join the fun. *chuckles* Yeah, right.

(Apologies to dial-up users.)

You think that's full? Swing around to the left - you can't see half the town. I even have two lots up on the bluff. (Really cool ones, too. I have a lighthouse up there....)

And a whole buncha Sims away at college. I am nuts.

Welcome to Friday -
