It's Rahki today, did you know that?
Had the WTF moment for the day, stopping off at Trader Joe's this morning before coming into work - waiting for the store to open, this little old babushka lady comes up to me and begins complaining about how "look at this world the men ruined!"
And when I didn't respond in kind? I'm brainwashed, yanno.
..
It's a world, ya silly bint. You can't blame everything on the actions of less than half of it. And I responded to her with my standard response when someone wants to blame the troubles of the world on something - whether it's gender, race, social status, financial standing - whatever.
"There's nothing to be gained by blaming."
Ah, you're no help - and she stomped off. She went in search of someone younger - one that hadn't been brainwashed or "thought like a man" yet.
Yeah, whatever.
Hey, STOOPID. Raised by my mother, put myself through college, buried a husband - found another one, all by myself - and could happily manage all by myself if I had to - there wasn't a more sympathic ear you could have bent this morning. Green to the gills, baby. You missed it.
But because it was all someone else's issue - and I didn't kowtow to it - I don't know nothing.
EFF U.
I am more than willing to listen - and weigh any issue. But you'd better be willing to do the same.
Because it ain't all one "thing" in this place - whether it's sexism (which is damned hard to see, let alone deal with in today's CW - ask
ginmar, who I tend to agree with on most days), racism (more fear than brains) or money (not the root of all evil, but a damned good fertilizer).
It's NEVER one thing. Only human brains can conceive of the absolutes - we need to be careful not to apply them to everything. That's not how the world is made.
*grumble* I just wanted my Luna bars. Sheesh.
Oh, and I love Rahki - look at the pretties:
