Puppy from yesterday?

Her case # is A4024614 and the number for Animal Control is (310) 523-9566. I called this AM, she has been seen and she is still being held at the shelter and is fine.

I'll call tomorrow and see how things are going - but. Anyone who wants a breadbox-sized ball of white fluff that will likely adore you and never leave your side (once she gets over being TERRIFIED), here's your chance.

Will work my rescues if her status changes. Oh very yes I will.

Poor thing. So not deserving of this.

Sitting around the kitchen table eating dinner last night. When suddenly, a small white blur crosses my vision - it's a small white dog running down the street outside my house.

UH. We don't have little white dogs that run loose outside my house. Such things end up dead rather quickly. And whoa - no collar, and double whoa - REALLY SCARED.

So I leave the table and go outside to investigate.

This dog - hrm, half poodle, half akito mebbe? - is nothing but a sack of bones and is terrified of me. Terrified of the world, you want to know the truth - and while it's an easy thing to turn her around to trot the other way (away from the busy main drag and back up into the cul de sacs), it didn't last.

Both Jim and I ended up in traffic, and this time I was ready with a towel and a carrier. Jim literally was in the middle of 50 mph traffic, bringing it to a screeching halt to allow this 5 lbs of scared canine to get back across the street. Me, I played matador and got the dog into the carrier without touching it - she wouldn't allow a pick up. Scared witless. Seriously.

I put both water and some dry cat food in the carrier with her and called animal control - and was told that at 7:00 PM, I should expect someone to come pick her up by 10:00 PM - they worked that late.

No dice. I made call after call, advising them of the details and asking for updates - this poor little thing had eye discharge, sounded like a bellows and was just nothing but skin and bones - REALLY needed to see a vet - and when were you coming again?

Right. Tomorrow after 7:00 AM. Okay. Dog is crated, secure and fed. Better than traffic. It'll have to do.

She was so scared she didn't touch the food until I was completely out of sight - then chowed down.

She knocked over the water sometime during the night, and I refilled the dish before I went to work.

Xander wants to know everything about the dog. He's also concerned that the two lovely golden orb spiders on the porch are going to EAT the dog. (No.)

I think the dog actually got picked up about lunchtime today - and I have a file number, I'll be able to see what happens to her. The first thing they'll do is have her seen - and see what can be done for her.

I think she had to have been dumped. Mouth was in terrible condition (like I've lived my whole life on canned dog food bad), and it looks like she had to have been groomed recently - like, less than two months ago.

I sure hope someone is looking for her.

If you have room, right now there's a companion animal in screaming crying need for a home. Us? Can't do it - we're full up.

No, I didn't take pictures. It was enough of a heartbreaker as it was.

Poor little mutt. So didn't deserve this.
