These aren't as badly mistreated dogs, but still: http://community.livejournal.com/thedogcommunity/1785242.html

These had minutes to spare before they were killed.

They can't all be rescued, but a lot more can be rescued than currently are. And the bully breeds are written off.

I have a distant relative who has been sleeping with 3 pits in her bed ever since her husband died a natural death. Breeding them was his hobby. My bro has 2 dogs that are half pits for his 11 and 12 year old kids to play with, sleep with, and wrestle with. The only risk from any of these dogs is weight ratio injuries when you sit down and they all try to get in your lap at once, or possible drool related drowning.

There are no bad breeds. There are a few bad individual dogs and lots of bad owners.

A dog fighting ring got busted by the cops here and 40 some dogs were turned free. An exact number is not known. The freaks said they didn't know how many dogs they had. They turned the dogs loose to add confusion so that some of the spectators could run away. Not one injury was reported due to these dog being free. Every single one of these dogs was captured without mishap and then destroyed because here the law states that dogs trained to fight must be put down. there may be a few extra dogs that some kind souls kept as pets.

If I had found one of these dogs, I would have kept it.

It is so good to read that people care enough to help these wonderful animals.

Pitbulls and greyhouds, the two breeds that are killed the most for stoopid reason. I've rescued both. I adore both. I've never doubted for a moment that what I have done was worth it. I've only wished I was about 5 more people and had unlimited funds.

Thanks for posting this. :-)
