I've been sick. Again. Well, at this point everything is getting to be 'again' so forgive the whining, but really.

Coulda passed on this experience entirely. No problem. BTDT and oh yeah, again? REALLY?

Haven't been here. Why? Well, I may stay on my feet well - but if I can't even get to them, staying on them is another story entirely.

Too sick to sit at a desk, folks. That sick. That said, I have run the iPod out of power at least three times a day for the last week. Plants vs. Zombies and I are on a first-name basis. I've kept up with three 'playing with friends' apps that usually wait days for me to respond.

And oh, I have slept like it was for the world's record. Something like 19 hours a day.

Upper-respiratory from hell. About 50% today, back at work because the doctor's note said I'm good to go.

Meeerrrr.

We've introduced kid to Hikaru no Go (I had three of the DVDs from back when, eh?) - and kid has taken to it like few other things lately. Enough that I was able to reward him with one more episode for being so good watching the one before it.

He's still being a rascal, but he had this crud first so I'm sympathetic.

Blargh. Pants likely bankrupt - if I'm missing something, lemme know?

Yes, that's actually a term to describe your status in my world. Feeling kinda punk.

Which is to say, not exactly well - but not sick enough to stay in bed, yanno?

Whole house is barking like seals, but that's largely the only symptom. Some sniffle, not much. I've got a raspy throat, but it's nothing some ibuprofen would kick, if it was worth taking it and watching the clock every four hours.

Nah.

Jim's at work, I'm keeping kid and I close to home today (no church) and only venturing out for a trip to Costco and the pet store, which have to be made or else.

Still working skills with kid, but as you might expect, the sick kind of pulls the plug on most of it.

Looking at taking many, many naps today. As many as I can get in.

Dear Cliff.

Thank you for being a grown man when you got sick and allowed me to get some experience dealing with altered states when people get sick.

It's coming in very handy right now.

...

Got home last night to a truly at-the-wall Jim, and a velcro kid. Would not give him a moment's peace. Would not go down for a nap. Hypervigilant.

Got home, fed, bathed, booked and put to bed. Asleep nearly at once before 6:00 PM.

By 8, he was running a 104.7 temp. Back up, give meds and put down again - but could not go far.

Suffice it to say, not many of us got much sleep and I'll be going home at lunch to help with that and put both boys down for naps.

Watching temps all the while. I think kid was probably running hot all day, and Jim was too frustrated to figure it out.

That's to the bad. To the good? Kid has no problem announcing to me "I'm sick!" I'll take it.

Ten days of Bactrim, nosespray and who knows what else.

And don't expect much more than work, come home, work some work and then sleep. For a while.

I'm off tomorrow too. Maybe I can sleep tonight instead of during the day. Like today.
