Gamers? Go nuts. Promise. You know these people. You're lying if you say you don't. Honest.

I had to run home to meet the Vector Control lady (does that sound nifty or what? She's a real native in these parts, too - classic Asian/Hawaiian and very sweet. I may have to talk to her again. I won't mind.) - but in the fifteen minutes or so before she arrived, I was able to attack the flower beds with some vigor and pulled out a shitpot load of weeds, watered everything - and enjoyed my roses for a good bit before she arrived.

Oh, we got rats. I know how they got in now - and what to do about it. Getting rid of them entirely? Not likely. However, I don't have to tolerate them inside spaces - they can run around in the trees and such without bothering me, according to Amy. Matter of fact, I have possums, even though I don't see them. They're there. Okay.

The problem now is that the only real solution is to poison them. I can set some more snap traps, but they've been incredibly ineffective in the past.

So - now we have a weekend project to weatherstrip and close off the openings where the rats have travelled - and set some bait traps. *shudders*

I'm keeping my rule of thumb regarding unwanted pests in my house - someday, natural selection will come up with an ant, a roach, a mouse - whatever - that knows NOT to come in the house. Because I keel everything that steps over the doorway.

Ugh. This means doing something I really won't like. Guess that's life. Because we can't keep going like this - we'll be at risk for certain narsties if I don't do something.

Poison bait. Hey, it's free if I want to make a trip to Pedro to get it. *winces*

We were watching some Ruroni Kenshin over the weekend. We do that, on occasion - yanno, look at DVDs we own more than once.

End of the Kyoto arc, of course. And there was little tune running in the background - really nice, quiet and sweet.

And I recognized it from an old Billy Joel album.

Hate it when that happens.

Turns out Joel lifted it from the same place the Kenshin folks did - it's Beethoven's sonata "Pathetique."

Damned earworms.

So.

They called it off.

Well, it was more fun than the earthquake. That we didn't feel.

When are we supposed to fall into the ocean again?

*laughs*
