That's from the front porch yesterday morning - I have two other plants with buds on them as well. These are the orchid plants I brought back with me from the last trip to Hawaii, *counts on fingers* three years ago?

No, unfortunately not. So far, none of the orchids I brought home were - but one that has never bloomed for me has buds on it, so I've got my fingers crossed.

Is that an interesting shade of rust though?

Try sniffing at different times of the day, like morning, afternoon and evening. This is a genus that's generally fragrant. Mine smells like coconuts!
