We didn't get to get a piece of [livejournal.com profile] silverkun last night - and I do mean that literally. It might have been a quick five minutes at best - and it would have been pulled out of the time he had between eating his last meal with buds at Gencon and getting on his plane.

Nah. It can wait.

[livejournal.com profile] cadhla, you are too damn easy to shop for. Watch for package this week. Wish I could have called you. They were having a huge sale.

Impressions on returning home -

Jim cursing as he continues to hit the wrong lever when making a turn. Over there, it was on the right. Over here, it's on the left. Guess what he's been doing. (Hey, the windshield is clean.)

Being incredibly grateful for getting drowsy after it got dark last night.

Dreaming in the scenery of the books I read.

And being left with the impression that it wasn't all that far, that different or that hard to adjust to.

Three days and it's Thanksgiving. Baked the sweet potatoes and made the cranberry sauce last night - tonight, I'll bake some pumpkin bread. Somewhere in this week, I have to get over to Sis' and get the turkey. I may send Jim over there tonight -

Mom sounds SO much better. And I'd have to give her feisty right now - she's decided she's coming for Thanksgiving and that's that. (Also, the labs are much improved - no surprise there, but I can only hope they continue to move towards that June benchmark. She's trying to do a diet as if she were on dialysis, which I think is premature - but without any better direction, what would you do?)

Flying Qantas? It's a piece of Australia with wings. If you get the chance to fly with them, do. This year, they're celebrating 85 years - and they couldn't be prouder.

I get Alex for this weekend. w00t - 11 years old and ready to take over the world.

As soon as pictures are available - I'll share. Promise.

Getting ready to go back to work - see ya!

So, what would you like us to bring on Thursday? If nothing else, I'm planning on baking an apple pie, because that's my hubby's favorite and Thursday is also his birthday. Shh. It's a sekrit.

*thinks* Sis has the pies - and I can make sure one of them is apple. Can you bring pickles?

Also, I need real names for family introductions - *chuckles* Also, drop me some contact information to kyburg@gmail.com so I can get directions and times for you.

The first turkey I roasted, I was 19? 20? it was before hubby and I got married, and it was for the historical military group we were part of at the time, for the Yule celebration. I was lucky that I got one slice of meat for myself - by the end of the evening, all that was left were broken bones and a smidge of cartilage. Somebody(-ies?) had even gone through and mopped up all the juices from the platter. I almost didn't get my knife back! :D

Apparently, people liked it.

I'll bet they loved it! from how it was devoured I'm guessing it was super good with juicy meat and great flavor...makes me hungry just thinking of it! but only one slice for yourself! I would have cried if I just got one slice! I love good turkey!

Heh heh. I always nibble from the pan while making gravy. And the platter before it goes to the table.

Anyway. We're expecting both ham and turkey this year - so I think we'll have plenty to go around!
