One A Days

You have a list of sites you visit every day, right?
You w00t. You lie if you say you don't. You w00t and you love it.
poetpaladin tossed me a tip this morning - free software. No, not shareware.
Every day they offer licensed software you'd have to buy otherwise, for free.
Today's offering is a make-your-own-website software - if I can get home and get the laptop online fast enough, I might snag it and get the half-baked site up for real....
I'm sure there are recipe of the day sites - that sort of thing.
Anyone else have some favorites they'd like to share?

Catalina Island??

Date: 2007-04-14 05:13 pm (UTC)Catalina has the advantage of being totally "canned" - you get there, you do what they have for you to do. Touristy? Well, yeah. The Channel Islands as a whole are very, VERY cool - I wouldn't turn down another trip to Anacapa, for example - but 'like Hawaii?' Nah.
I will be here those dates - so my house is definitely available for a stop along the way.
It is pretty chilly at elevation, no matter where you go. If you're looking for mountains and scenery, we have it at Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead and Idyllwild - but we also have Palm Springs and environs, which at this time of year are at their best. (Go look up Joshua Tree National Monument. Does that appeal?) Any touristy area - and that's most of Southern California - has its down to earth places, where people like me live. But the touristy things are there for a reason - they allow a lot of people to see parts of the town quickly, even if it's only a cheap, shabby impression. You just have to recognize it for what it is, and find the alternatives.
What kind of things do you like? This time of year, there are also lots of events going on as well. (We have farmer's markets nearly every day of the week in different communities, for example.)
Thanks..
