It's National Coming Out Day?
Where's the cake? There should be cake.
For the record, I'm so middle-of-the-road average, nobody ever sees me. I'm straight. I've been married more years of my life than I've been a child or single.
I don't have many friends who are just like me in this regard. And I like it that way. I prefer it that way.
God made everything, and I do mean everything. And since I haven't been given permission to judge, I don't. In that I don't, I accept - and my life has been the richer for it.
Beauty in diversity, variety being the spice and viva la difference -
Come on out. I've got cake waiting for you.

Date: 2007-10-12 02:41 am (UTC)I saw a gay couple at the mall last night (that makes it sound like it was my first time seeing gay men in my life, lol). They were walking w/one arm around the other and one of them was stroking the other's butt. It was sweet. ~_~ I felt bad that they felt they needed to part when they came to a part of the mall w/more people (they didn't see my fiance and I b/c we were walking behind them a ways).

Date: 2007-10-12 03:10 am (UTC)I haven't been given permission to judge the fate of other people's souls, so I don't. But I (and society) has every right to judge some actions as being morally wrong.

Date: 2007-10-12 04:28 am (UTC)I DO believe that homosexulaity is hardwired, and that people are born to it. Few people CHOOSE the hard way to live. As such, I support gay folks 100%.
I know what the torah says, but I have to wonder what they really meant. Not finishing the job (the sin of Onan) was bad enough that guys got killed for it. So does that mean no one gets to spill sees no matter what? Too much unclear for me. SInce I am not a fully observant Orthodox Jew, I think my role here is to be extra nice to people and serve them any way that I can. In doing so, I believe that I am serving God.

Date: 2007-10-12 03:05 pm (UTC)You can imagine the reaction in the bookstore when the book fell open to that page - I busted up. Keep in mind, the Koran is also not written entirely by a deity either - and is the "newest" of the texts - so the snarking is just amusing for its own sake. Yeah, this has been going on a while. And oh - believe me - the other faiths have noticed.
Screwing up in the Biblical sense, I honestly believe, has its own penalties besides the ones You're Gonna Get When You Die, and those are the ones we're being cautioned about. Quibbling over a naturally occurring event? Nah.
We are all in service to one another, as we are all in service to God - ignore that at your own risk.

Date: 2007-10-12 02:56 pm (UTC)Uh, yeah. Actually. God made stink bugs and polio and AIDS too. Children die in fires, natural disasters wipe out entire towns and all that as well. There's a reason for it, but hell if I know what it is. I have to accept those things as challenges in part of a picture I can only see a smidgeon of.
*looks at the list above* The common denominator you have is the lack of consent. As in, these are actions that imply that someone is forcing a sexual act on a participant that can't refuse it.
There's a word for that between two human adults of consenting age.
It's called rape.
When you're talking about who is being raped, then you get to add the modifier.
Homosexuality - or bisexuality? Is a concept apart and separate. And I'll be blunt - pretty damn benign. It's as naturally occurring as sunshine, farts and house dust, and not incredibly special.
We decide some actions as morally wrong when someone is being abused, taken advantage of or cheated. It's the lack of this action, due to some "visible" excuse, that fuels awareness activities like this.
Let there be lots of cake!
