Not a detached retina. Not a retinal tear. No macular degeneration.
Doctor says it looks like she might have had a little interruption in blood flow to part of the eye - like a mini-heart attack, only this was in the retina. She already says she sees better, and the doctor says she should get most if not all back, even if over a period of months.
So much for opthomologists in Hemet. Loma Linda, bayyyybee!

Just as well, since Grandpa was able to attend (and God bless him for it!) and Lolo (my maternal grandfather) wasn't entirely senile then.
I've never actually lived in Riverside County - I spent several years in a neighborhood sandwiched between Glendale and the Los Angeles River (Atwater Village).
In any case, I'm very familiar with Southern California ... just not anyone in the legal field outside of a law school professor in Pasadena who is a family friend.
