The family of the alleged Fort Hood military base shooter held his mother's funeral at the same mosque that two Sept. 11 hijackers attended in 2001, at a time when a radical imam preached there.

I think this says much more about the expectations of church attendence right now than anything of substance.

Like, you only attend with people of your own political leanings and all that, and don't question them.

And people who attend on a regular basis are nuts, anyway.

...

I can count the number of mosques I know of on less than two hands, and I'm in Los Angeles.

I seriously doubt they are swimming in them in Virginia to the point where if you're devout, you have much choice about where you can participate and with who.

And I've said something about being poked with privilege sticks already.

Just, tuck it away. Food for thought, that kind of thing.

Because I can, and nobody will kill me for it.

In his first public remarks after days of protests, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the outcome had to be decided at the ballot box, not on the street.

He said political leaders would be blamed for any violence.

Demonstrators calling for a new election earlier vowed to stage fresh protests on Saturday.

But the governor of Tehran province, Morteza Tamadon, has said no permission has been given for such a rally and he hoped it would not be held.

I smell Tiananmen. It smells like burning.

In other news, they say Uncle Walter is really getting to leave the building - at 92, it would hardly be surprising, but I'd miss knowing he was around, even if he was only sitting quietly in a corner shaking his head at the current status of broadcast journalism.

But for today, I wear green. For all the good it will do. For someone who can remember the days of the Shah, the kidnapping of the embassy staff (and Reagan's part in it) and work with an Iranian Jew...it's another bit of hope mixed with sad. You never know.

Somewhere, Boris Yeltzin has his fingers crossed.

We have a multiple hundred BILLION 'economic stimulus' trying to get approved in the congress to offset what some very questionable people - who took our money in the billions last fall, and we don't even know their names, it's too much work - and one woman with more children than people are comfortable with is being hung out to dry everywhere you look for less than $500 a month in food stamps. And maybe some SSI. (Anyone ever draw SSI out there? Raise your hand. *raises hand* It doesn't pay for DICK, just in case most of you who have the privilege of never needing to ask for what your taxes paid for want to know.)

It took a Presidential Order to keep these same, anonymous people from paying themselves MORE than $500,000 every year while accepting a handout from the taxpayers at the same time. In the meantime? Yeah. There's more than one person in this category mind. We aren't even allowed to know HOW many of these people are taking our money in this quantity - let alone WHO.

Karl Rove must be ROLLING on the floor laughing right now. Rush is just counting his money. Again.

SHINY SHINY SHINY

(And the family that did 'the right thing' and removed themselves from the gene pool when they decided that not having jobs meant not deserving their lives? Wow. Gone from the news as if they never been. As if that was the RIGHT thing to do. Gods, people - WAKE UP.)

What IS this to you? In the face of this larger grab for 'your taxes' - what is one woman and fourteen children? HUH?

There are structures, and methods to deal with anything this situation creates. There are Eyes on her, and her family. They exist for them - they exist for anyone in their community. They'll get their share - and no more than that. It's hardly a standard of living better than those of us who work, plan and prepare have - that's plain.

So. What is this about, anyway?

The hue and cry? Is far more about the criers than the subject, methinks. People - it's not about what you know, how your found out or if it's right or wrong. LOOK. Stop jammering and THINK.

If you're tired of scammers, there are plenty - nay we don't KNOW how many - still having a blast in plain sight and nobody is demanding our due of them. WHO they are. WHERE they live. WHY they need the money.

But go kick the woman and children around some more. G'head. They're the easy target.

I do not understand how people can't see that it isn't the woman using them - but the people who see their interest as a way to make a mint off of them that are. USING them. And then spit on them. While other people, who are never named, never held accountable and allowed to continue on their merry way - can.

Honestly.

Amazing.

I have never been so happy to have a paid account in my life.

There is no way I'd make a single dime for an advertiser today. Not with the current topic at hand.

People slay me.

With all the hue and cry over this woman with her reproduction gone wild 14 children, something has been missed completely.

How about the biological father?

Who is known, knew his jizz was being used for nefarious purposes and didn't cross his legs?

Not a peep, not a whisper - nothing. Nobody is even suggesting that he step up and take responsiblity for any part of this.

COME ON.

Don't even try to tell me he didn't know what he was getting into. Hold her accountable for what she did - sure. But come on - he had the final say, right?

NOTHING. I almost missed it completely.

Where's his picture, his story, his excuses?

WHERE'S HIS PUBLICIST.

Let's see.

You don't need to take Jim's word for it anymore. Even down to the names...which he was a good boy about and didn't tell anyone about either.

Hooray! (And so much for Tiajuana Taxi Fertility Hookups.) Note the words 'there is no law against...' - this is a evaluation by peers, and I hope we find out what they decide. But keep in mind - there is no law, and this won't create one. (Consider what the enforcement of one might look like, BTW. Just think about it for a moment, it'll come to you.)

Let me get this straight. When the McCaughey septuplets were born in 1997, President Clinton called to congratulate the parents, who were given a free 12-passenger van, Pampers for life, furniture, food, and a custom built house. Last spring, when Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar got pregnant with their 18th child, they announced it on the Today Show and their reality TV show launched that fall. When Nadya Suleman, 33, gave birth to octuplets on January 26th, she got revulsion, ridicule and death threats. A talk radio host who called her a freak said his listeners were prepared to boycott any company that helped out mother or babies. Jimmy Kimmel declared that "Golden retrievers do not have that many kids."

Uh, yawp. Single, POC and oh mi ghad IRAQI. SPICY.

(You know, I'd almost expect some people to have a little empathy for people who have somewhat toxic parents....but noooooo. Guess not.) And before you hit that comment button - keep in mind. The lady had choices. Since we see more of the grandfather doing childcare publically than the grandmother, you figure it out. Watch the grandkids leave that house Real Soon. As soon as enough money shows up - and it will show up. (Just keep making those death threats on all those sponsored websites, kids!)

Quick quiz.

Who administers 'food stamp' programs?

- Department of the Treasury
- Department of Homeland Security
- The Internal Revenue Service
- Department of Agriculture (*dingdingding*)

Also, the going term is Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - not food stamps. Note the key word - there is no intention for this ever to be the sole support for anyone. (I love the fact they've moved it off paper and to electronic ATM card. No, you can't pool the change from buying a candy bar with a coupon until you can buy liquor anymore. Too bad. *snickers*)

Oh yeah, $490 a month is a REAL GOOD incentive to have a kid. (...where do people get this crap...) And of course you top out, regardless of the number of people in the household.

Defend her? Not so much. What I find amazing is the vitriol where in just about every other case I know of, there was nothing but cooes and praise for being 'so absolutely PERFECTLY FEMALE' for being, well - successful at being female. That's it, isn't it? The pastel pinks and blues, the heft of the rewards thrown, the fairy tale twittering. The strokes - oh yes - THE STROKES.

(I'm catching echoes of it adopting right now, and I know it when I see it. It's perceived sainthood and I'm hip. I got much the same when I was the wife of a terminal patient. It's not helpful, except as a signal that they're not going to bitchslap you.)

I'm glad information is getting out. It's making our lives easier not having to keep our mouths shut. (How many times does WE CAN'TALK make sense?)

What I'm watching for? Terminations at the hospital of people who were peeking into health records when they had no reason to. Yeah, it's all electronic, all tagged with who was doing the peeking and we've had plenty of evidence there's a zero tolerance policy for fraud - though I think Kaiser might handle these a bit differently after a whole family died when both parents were fired for it. Remember - same hospital system.

Whatta parade. Can we talk about Sully instead?
