And I'm leaving on a jet plane....and stuff.

Yesterday came together like a really good exercise in flexibility. After having my entire itinerary turned upside down, punting including visiting the Sho Chiku Bai sake brewery (w/tasing!), lunch at the Emeryville Food Market (YUM)...then our event (complete with about two hundred helium balloons, released to the ceiling on VERY long ribbons), then meeting up in J-Town for dinner and crepes.

Attending?

It was amazing - we all had LJs, but a whole buncha folks didn't know each other.

[livejournal.com profile] murphymom and [livejournal.com profile] kshandra
[livejournal.com profile] feyandstrange with her fella [livejournal.com profile] digitalsidhe
[livejournal.com profile] nytshaed with her daughter OMG she's tall now Aurora (She have an LJ of her own yet?)

Then there was us, [livejournal.com profile] silverkun and [livejournal.com profile] purrplexitty.

The boat sushi place wept in despair. Ditto the Benihana. But a third place said they could seat the ten of us inside of ten minutes and they got the gig.

Then we ate crepes. Then parted company, where we fell down like really well-fed dead things and then woke up.

We're now on our way out to breakfast with Hank - and then back to SFO, and home.

I've got a lovely phone conference with my agency owner to look forward to next week...but business as usual. rrrr.

For more than one reason.

New gig?

I go perm, officially, the 29th. Since everyone is going to be out of the office on vacation for the holiday until the 3rd?

I asked.

I got.

I've already got my health insurance paperwork in, done and ready to rock for the 1st of January.

UH. They have their policy with the same company as old gig. With a twist.

UH. Old gig? Bigger company...by an order of magnitude. New gig?

Has a richer health policy. I don't know that it's going to be cheaper, but. Lower percentage of cost to us, lower co-pays, lower deductibles...same provider.

Don't know yet if there will be a bump in pay, but I'm fine if there isn't - economy being what it is, and so on.

But I'm better off than I was. *pinches self*

I begin to sense my late husband in the middle of all this - it smacks of his whacky way of making things work. In the midst of crazy, good things came of them. Beneficial things.

I'm just counting my blessings.

In other news - my Secret Santa here at work? ROXXORS.

--

You can also apply the icon to current events, with my blessings.

--

I also sat down and penned my Yuletide offering last night - and blast if I can discuss it yet. Suffice it to say, I'm amazed I was able to do it with a straight face. And...I think they'll like it. At least, I hope they'll like it.

I have to use that icon more often. I loved it so. It's also so dated. Oh well.

Hey, I'm Green. Thumbs up? I don't get to vote for Ron Paul. Thumbs down? I don't get to vote for Barak Obama.

Moment of WTF?

I get two women to chose between and neither of them Hilary.

Here, you go for it:

[Poll #1133489]

For the rest?

NO. Repeat as often as necessary.

Oh, and Furitani can stay.

Five minutes after the polls opened this morning, 39 degrees and DAMN, I'm glad that's done. I also got a new sticker for the DS. Go me.

All Done.

Those glass pumpkins from yesterday?

They're part of a fundraiser for a local food bank.

Avalon Glassworks and the recipient is Northwest Harvest.

Someone's getting a phone call. Mama WANT.
