Halloween is finally here - holy crap. By the time sushi time rolls around on Sunday night, I won't know what to do with the spare time. Seriously.

[livejournal.com profile] xanxanbell has been updated. Go be kilt by the cute.

Your day (and mine) already in progress. Holy crap.

There is something to be said about knowing you can do a thing...and then actually being able to do it without FAIL showing up.

If I can keep it up, this Halloween costume is going to ROCK. I have some finishing to do on the suit, then build the hood, mittens and I may jettison the spats (just don't see the need and they might encumber more than enhance, neh?)

Halloween Party at preschool is Friday. Have to be ready before then.

On the other hand, I just found out just how much $$$ I 'pushed ahead' to get Halloween paid for on time...erg. If I want something leftover for my birthday, I'm going to have to hustle. (God, I hate it when I shoot myself in the foot.)

And I've bought tickets for all three of us to go see Straight Up No Chaser at the Wiltern in November. *fistpumps* Cheaper than Imagination Movers, cheaper than a sitter - and I think he's going to love it. He certainly likes the iTunes tracks and YouTube of them I found.

If anyone knows of any other live music opportunities (we ARE coming into the best/easiest season to find them) - let me know. Kid REALLY likes it (a four year old who will stop DEAD and listen as long as you will play? Right - ) and it's something we'd be happy to encourage.

And now, back to your Tuesday - already in progress.

Knitty folks - I challenge you to a Hat ATTACK throwdown!

This is easy - I've never done cables in my life. You'll win for sure - or you'll definitely beat me for sure, so come get some boo for free!

Me? I get a new skill. ROCK ON.

Mark this one on the calendar - and I'll add a notation to [livejournal.com profile] simsdesoleil - I'm giving in.

After three years, I am sick to death of blue, green and pink. Sick, I tell you.

UH. Oh. What -

Male maternity clothes for Sims2. They come in three colors, one style and I'm DONE with them.

So...I'm caving and going to attempt InSim without killing my game. Wish me luck.

Searches for solutions this .. perverted strange .. often turn up some other results.

Like one of the most gorgeous Sims2 resource site I've seen in ages.

Garden of Shadows. I've still got some more cruising around there to go - but oh my. PRETTY.

Just in time for the weekend.

More fun!

No, seriously. You want these things - you just don't know it yet.

That, and both of them are being done by buds of mine - you can't go wrong.

First up (and I have my copy and it is FAB FAB FAB) is Big Damn Chefs, the book, yes - that lovely LARGE tribute to Firefly and the people who made it, who love it and love to cook as well - the proceeds of which are going to Freedom From Hunger. I have my copy. It's an incredible bit of work. (I could sit and read it by itself for hours - I've tried, but the drool is getting in the way.)

Not the least of which is it is penned/organized/edited by [livejournal.com profile] julesong - who is a terrific cook in her own right, and if you have concerns about how many of the recipes you can't because of your diet plan...fear not. Go read the journal [livejournal.com profile] julesgone - yup, same lady. So - go get a copy. It's comprehensive enough to suit any kitchen. And it's too damn fun not to.

Next? The next!

[livejournal.com profile] cadhla is getting ready to release the first truly hand-built, in the studio, no kidding here we go, made for your listening please album - after the first one, Pretty Little Dead Girl was received to no small applause and requests for "hey, that was good - could you do it again as a studio piece?" That album was done from a one-pass, that's all folks, live performance at a convention - and is damn good. The album taking pre-orders? More. Here, go take a look. Better yet, here, go order them. Both of them. Really really.

(A little checking finds cross-pollination in full swing - checking the featured artists for Seannan's album finds one of the cover artists for Big Damn Chefs, Vixy Dockrey...*snickers*)

And that is my PSA for the day.

A group I can hang with:

While many people will spend countless hours this year lining up at Wal-Mart and maxing out their credit cards at Nordstrom, a small Bay Area group has declared it will do just the opposite.

About 50 teachers, engineers, executives and other professionals in the Bay Area have made a vow to not buy anything new in 2006 -- except food, health and safety items and underwear.

(Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] destabee for pointing this out this morning.)

Hmm. Remodeling your house with used drywall does NOT make sense to me. I'd have to draw the line at structural needs as well.

Food? Dangerous. There's an eating issue waiting to happen - if that's the only thing you allow yourself to buy for yourself.

Anyone who knows me, knows my love of junking around - remember, [livejournal.com profile] deense? Boy, you were a good sport....

I don't buy soveniers from shops when I travel. I find the thrift stores and do it there.

Underwear. Paugh. Trust me on this one. You have to be brighter than the average bear, but sheesh.

And used yardage? PULEEZE. Raw materials really don't come used that often. I'd make an exception for anything you can make from scratch. Including pencils.

EDIT: I should revise that last. The raw materials to make pencils. You know how to make pencils, don't you?
